…a life of food, fitness, fashion, and fun.

I haven’t even been in Texas a week and I don’t think I’m ever going to leave!!

The people here are so friendly!

Starting with the first night here I headed out to a bar in Sunset Square to grab dinner and a drink at a place called The Flying Saucer.

This place is a great hangout if you like beer.  They have a large patio with 100ish beers on tap plus even more bottles, and the food was good too.  If you are looking for a vegetarian meal that isn’t your typical veggie burger this place has it.  They had a veggie pita stuffed full with spicy humus and avocado….delicious!

Anywho, I couldn’t have been there more than a couple minutes when the guy next to me started talking to me.   I spent the next couple hours just sitting there chatting with him.  I never saw him again, but it’s a rare thing in STL for a random stranger to spend that much time talking with you just for the hell of it.

Even the staff at the bar was great.  I was told thank you for more service multiple times, something not necessary but definitely makes you feel welcome.

I started at the hospital Tuesday and it was more of the same.  Everyone I encountered was eager to introduce themselves and thanked me for coming to help them out.  I even made friends with a girl at work after just one day.  If every city had people this welcoming and nice, the world would be a much better place.

Uptown is awesome!

Last night I decided to venture out into Dallas and visit Uptown since these two fellas were supposed to be out and about:

John had posted on twitter that they would be at Primebar in Uptown Friday night and being the huge Bachelorette fan that I am, of course I had to go down there.

Unfortunately I got there right around the time Primebar was switching from restaurant mode to bar mode and didn’t get to try any of their food, but they did have a bunch of TVs and several beers on tap.  During the week it would be a fun place for happy hour or just to relax.  On the weekends the atmosphere is more upscale, but was fun with a live DJ. A great place that I plan on revisiting in the future.

I got there kind of early…around 930…and grabbed a drink while watching the Olympics.  I couldn’t have been there for more than 5 minutes when a guy approached me and started talking to me.  As soon as he find out I had just moved here and didn’t know anyone he “took me under his wing” so to speak. He started introducing me to people and when he found out I was from STL immediately introduced me to a friend of his that’s from STL.

Of course we started with the general topics, “Where did you go to high school?” and from there hit it off.  After talking to him for a while I had to confess my true reasons from visiting the bar.  When he found out I wanted to meet Wolf he walked right through the crowd of girls, on up to Wolf, and started chatting with him.  After a few minutes he introduced me to Wolf and I had a legit convo with him…I was so freaking excited, but was able to contain my excitement until I got home.  When John found out I had just moved to Dallas he introduced me to a friend of his that lives here and we exchanged numbers too!

I don’t know if it’s like this every night in Uptown, but again people here are so AMAZINGLY FRIENDLY! I walked away with three different people’s numbers….so hopefully tonight I’ll have some people to hang out with and have made some new friends:)

As for the actual Uptown area it had a great feel to it.  It’s got a mixture of ages from your young 20′s to mid 30′s so you never feel out of place, but has a good mixture of bars too.  I like a little bit more upscale bars so that I can dress up, and there were plenty to choose from.   For a full list you can visit Uptown’s website here.  They also have a trolley that goes up and down the strip so there’s no need to kill your fee in heels, just hop on the free trolley.  Why doesn’t every area have this? Genius!

Chelsea and Megs come in town next weekend and we will be venturing out to the Stockyards.  I can’t wait….hopefully it’s just as excellent!
